The Italians Will Live Spaghetti Sauce
It's pasta sauce, not a crisis. It tastes good and coats the noodles and picky eater friendly.

This is a fave for my family. Perfect for a comfort meal or a cold night or just whenever. Also for the Italians, not looking to offend anyone. Especially Nonna. Just my kids LOVED this, so it's entered the rotation.

Ingredients
- 1 TBSP Italian Seasoning
- 1TBSP Garlic Powder
- 2-3 Cloves of Minced Garlic (you can also buy it already minced in a jar)
- 1TBSP Onion Powder
- 1TSP Oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 796 mL (28 oz) Cans of Crushed No Salt Added Tomatoes
- 1 Diced Yellow Onion
- 1 red or green bell pepper, diced (my kids prefer red, but they'll eat green if it's in the sauce)
- Olive Oil for cooking (if it's vegetable oil it's ok, I'm not here to judge)
Method
- Heat a little olive oil (or vegetable oil, nobody's judging) in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add your diced onion and bell pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until they start to soften.
- Add your minced garlic and cook for another 30-60 seconds. Keep stirring. Burnt garlic isn't the flavour we're going for.
- Pour in both cans of crushed tomatoes.
- Add your Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt and black pepper. Give everything a good stir.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Give it a taste. Need more seasoning? Add some. You're the one eating it.
- Serve over your favourite pasta (if you don't have spaghetti any noodle will do, don't let the title stop you), cooked according to the package instructions.

The salt police should rest easy on this one with the no salt added crushed tomatoes. Unless you re-enlisted them when you added your salt. Nutrition is approximate and based on the sauce only. Pasta, meat and cheese are not included. The amount of oil and salt you use will affect the numbers.
